About me
Sylvie Kessler grew up in industrial granite City Illinois and craved bright colors and fun in her life. From a very small age she knew that she wanted to entertain and make art. She soon found puppetry through TV shows like Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock. Since then she has made it her life goal to be a world-renowned puppeteer. Her very first puppets that she made were sock puppets but her first professional puppet that she made was in 2016 for the Jim Henson creature shop challenge in Georgia during the dragon con. She won third place with her 10 ft long dragon puppet named pebbles from the snowy mountain planet. After that she started interning with Bob Kramer and Doug felch from Bob Kramer's marionettes in St Louis. There she learned how to make traditional marionette puppets, perform for large crowds, and perfect her designing process for making her own puppets. Through her internship she performed in many different shows such as annual Christmas, Halloween, and spring symphony shows. Sadly the theater burned down in 2022 taking the life of Bob Kramer and his pets. His partner Doug survived the fire and has been continuing to work with her on workshops, future shows, and fixing the puppets that were saved from the rubble of the building. Her art is meant to spark whimsy and joy in people of all ages. You will never see doom and gloom in her art or hard life choices, but song and dance to remind the audience that there is still hope in the world.
